Maiham Media Travel to Thailand

Maiham-Media.com Travel to Thailand from Maiham-Media.com on Vimeo.

Above is a little film I put together documenting some of my time spent in Thailand and the projects I worked on. Below is a post covering the same but with words and pictures, something to look at while the film loads!

I traveled to Thailand a couple weeks ago on invitation from Chin of Autohaus / RAUH-Welt Begriff to film a couple projects for one of my clients and little did I know what I was getting myself into! The photo above really cements my overall feelings for Thailand, rich country side and than smack bang in the middle a roaring RWB Porsche 993. These types of extremes can be seen all throughout Bangkok and not just with cars, it makes for quite interesting filming and photography.

This was my first trip to Thailand so Chin and his close knit group of friends were looking after me, showing me the sights and helping me weed out interesting characters to film. All of who you will get familiar with in this post.

First up we left Autohaus / RWB Thailand and headed out to a large super car drag meeting held by an event organizer called Foot on Floor or FOF for short.

Chin’s personal RWB 993 got to stretch it’s legs on the highway drive up, such a head turner in Thailand.

Quite a few Porsches showed up for this event but some cars of the Italian variety seemed to dominate on the day.

The amount of Ferrari’s that were present was like nothing I have seen before! In the car park and….

On the drag strip.

You can see more of this event along with snippets of other projects I worked in the video at the top of this page.

One of the main reasons I traveled over to Thailand was to film at Autohaus / RWB Thailand.

Chin’s 993 lives in the showroom at Autohaus, venturing out for weekend drives and local track events throughout the year.

You can’t find any angle of this car that doesn’t look amazing from behind the lens. Not only does Chin have great taste in cars this also extends through his workshop, a design of architectural beauty. Strong lines mixed with offset angled windows, this place makes for a perfect shooting location.

I sat down with Chin to talk about his passion for cars, his workshop and of course RWB. This was a project for one of my clients so once this film gets publicly released through their channels I will point you in the right direction to view it.

Lek-A-Arm might not sound familiar to you but in Thailand this is a very well know workshop, because of this man…

Uncle Lek. An automotive legend in Thailand and around the world to people in the know.

A very humble man with the skills not only to produce fast engines and custom suspension components but complete cars. Uncle Lek has a photographic memory and can quite literally build you a DTM car from the ground up including the bolts and nuts if he has to. There’re many stories about Uncle Lek and his amazing work with cars, lucky I was on-hand to interview him and poke around his workshop. Once again another client project!

Uncle Lek also has a soft spot for BMW’s and who can blame!

Another project I filmed while over in Thailand with now close friend A-Thummanoon Pornrojanagoon or P.A. for short was his personal garage called @SPEED.

You’re in for a big treat when you finally get to see what P.A. has lying around his garage.

Even in Japan its hard to find cars that have been restored to the same conditions as you’ll find in P.A.’s personal car collection. A.P. has a very strict philosophy when it comes to restoring cars and everything has to be period correct, no exceptions.

Hope you enjoyed the video and this little introduction post to my time over in Thailand, more posts will follow once I get some free time from video editing to knock them out!

I had an amazing time in Thailand, I recommend to anyone if you get the chance to fly on over and check it out for yourself. I must thank all my amazing new friends who helped make my stay in Thailand comfortable and I can’t wait to go back and visit you all soon. The car culture was more than I expected but even more so were the friends I made during my travels. I truly am grateful that Chin of Autohaus / RWB Thailand invited me over, thank you!
